GENERAL HEALTH AND FITNESS

 

At the end of this topic:-

1. You should understand the different effect regular physical activity has on the individual.

2. Be able to define simply, what is meant by the following terms:-

i. Health             ii. Fitness        iii. Performance

iv. Agility           v. Co-ordination   vi. Speed

vii. Reaction Time    viii. Balance      ix. Muscular Endurance

x. Power              xi. Strength       xii. Flexibility

and try and relate them to individual sports to illustrate the importance of each factor.

 

 

WHY TAKE PART IN SPORT AT ALL?

 

1. In ROUGH, think of the reasons why you take part in sport and list them.

2. Now try and think why anybody takes part in sport.

Once you feel you have exhausted the list compare it with your 'neighbour' - are there any similarities or differences?

 

You may have missed one or two reasons, so perhaps at home or at school ask why people take part in sport.

REMEMBER - Sport covers a wide area of activities.
